Singer Froukje released her long-awaited debut album in mid-January of this yearNecessary sadnessout. The album received only favorable reviews, not least because of the lyrics. These texts – and many more beautiful ones – are now also available in the form of a beautiful book. There are only 800 copies available, so be sure to get yours on time.
The book – with the same title as the album – contains the lyrics of all the songs, plenty of scribbles from Froukje's notebooks, beautiful photos by David van Dartel and each song contains a short explanation of how it was created.
Loopvis previously made the wonderful KakkerlakjePreferably with youwith Froukje and illustrator Pyhai. Loopvis publishing house was also the partner they were looking for for the book. Froukje: “The reason is very simple: Loopvis makes super beautiful things.” As a multidisciplinary maker, that is exactly what Froukje wants: to make beautiful things. “We were looking for a party that could bring together all the elements to which we paid so much attention. It was really a breath of fresh air to work with a publisher that thinks outside the box.”
For example, the texts and cyanotype images by designer Pieter Jan Boterhoek were printed on uncoated, matte paper and the photos by David van Dartel on coated, glossy paper so that they stand out optimally. A reading ribbon and subtly bulging title on the cover complete the book.
